Abstract:
This report details the demonstration of a spatial interpolation method towards theoptimisation of temporal sampling for the determination of concentrations of technetium-99in the Arctic marine environment. The impact of various sampling regimes on the quality ofdata produced using geostatistical interpolation is ascertained and the use of kriging errorminimisation as a decision criterion is demonstrated. The use of an oceanographic model forthe a priori determination of parameters relevant to the system used is also demonstrated.
