Federico (Fedora Enabled Repository with Cocoon) is a state-of-the-art XML Metadata Repository for the Collaborative Climate Community Data and Processing Grid C3GRID- developed at the Computer Center of the Alfred Wegener Institute in scope of the work package #3 of Wissgrid, The Long-Term Digital Preservation of Research Archives, and sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF)-Germany. Its frontend integrates transparently to the Fedora Commons Repository and interacts in a friendly and intuitive manner with the end-user via a modern AJAX enabled user interface allowing him or her the upload, edition, validation, search, sharing, and publishing of metadata collections organized hierarchically in Sets for their subsequent harvesting. The J-A NetCDF Metadata Extractor (JANEME) based on Jhove2 supports in the task of metadata extraction from the header of NetCDF-3/4 and GRIB files and structure it accordingly for its successfully ingest in Fedora.
