Abstract

Larvae of the East Atlantic anomuran crab Galathea intermedia Lilljeborg were reared in the laboratory from hatching to the first juvenile stage. The larvae were kept in 31-32 ppt S sea water at 15 degree C. The complete larval development consists of 4 or 5 zoeal stages and 1 megalops stage. The larval stages are described and morphological characters are compared with those of the West Atlantic species Galathea rostrata A. Milne Edwards described by Gore (1979).
