This is the metadata for: MUMBA_CPC_2013-01-16_2013-02-15 (doi:10.1594/PANGAEA.871985) Measurement: Total number concentration of condensation nuclei >3 nm Instrument: Ultrafine Condensation Particle Counter (TSI 3776) Owner: CSIRO Campaign: MUMBA Location: Main measurement site - Nissan Hut Kids Campus / Campus East, Wollongong (-34.3972, 150.8996) Dates of operation: 16-Jan-2013 to 15-Feb-2013 Original measurement time resolution: 1 second Averaging time: 1 hour Units: particles/cm3 Inlet/Installation detail: Air was sampled through an 8 m copper bypass running at a flow rate of ~15L/minute. Inlet height was ~10m. This bypass was shared between the CPC, CCNC and SMPS instruments. Inlet flow to CPC was ~320 ccm Data/sample collection detail: The TSI 3776 uses a supersaturated butanol chamber to grow all particles >3 nm to sizes that can be counted using standard optical counters Issues: The instrument was shut down due to excessive heat on 18-19-Jan-2013. Butanol became contaminated with water multiple times throughout the measurement period. Diagnosis of this problem occurred between the 26 and 29-Jan-2013, and redrying and butanol replacement occurred again on the 8-Feb-2013. Data from these periods were excluded Corrections: Original timestamp of data collected from 16-Jan-2013 until 18-Jan-2013 was corrected from GMT+11 to GMT+10 Flow rate correction (as measured periodically using an external flowmeter) Inlet losses were calculated as 10% loss. Number concentrations were divided by 0.9. Uncertainty: +-5% based on counting statistics and flow calibration uncertainties Missing data reported as empty fields File headers: date yyyy-mm-ddTHH:MM:SSz CN3 (particles/cm3) mean hourly total number concentration of condensation nuclei >3 nm in particles per meter cubed Contact(s): Ruhi Humphries ruhi.humphries@csiro.au Melita Keywood melita.keywood@csiro.au
