The structure and gene repertoire of an ancient red algal plastid genome

Abstract

The complete sequence of the plastid genome from the unicellular red alga Cyaidium caldarium was determined and compared to known plastid genomes. The C. caldarium pt genome is unique in that it contains a large number of gene not known from any other plastid genome.
